The BFG – Roald Dahl
Thank you for presenting Dragon Gold.
What an entrance! Costumes, which were an integral part of the story, were really brilliant, and gave the presentation so much colour.
The children were confident and playful and were clear in their presentation skills.
Good use of the stage.
Loved the ending, with everyone on stage, and leaving us wanting more.
Diolch yn fawr!

This final group blew my socks off! They were obviously very taken with Roald Dahl’s The BFG. But unlike some other groups, who were only able to discuss the story and main book themes, this quartet were able to dig much deeper, and their passion therefore was more heartfelt.
Amerie in particular was a standout ‘slammer’, but it is fair to say that all four worked extremely well as a group.
What began as a series of platitudes (‘amazing book’, ‘really good’), immediately segued into themes of subtext, criticism, and comparisons with other books, such as Matilda and Thimble Monkey, Superstar.
The group was also able to empathize, not only with Sophie, but also the BFG, and took to heart the message that you can be friends with anyone, big or small, and that anyone could relate to the book.
This group was awarded the highest mark for discussion –
Llongyfarchiadau / Congratulations!

Our group of Year 5 and 6 children took part in the National round of the Bookslam 2017 competition today in Brecon and gained 2nd place!
We are very proud of their achievement and thank Mrs Morse and Mrs Harmsworth for preparing them so well. The whole team worked hard and their success is well deserved.
Reading and numeracy tests in Wales – 2017
This guide provides parents/carers with information explaining what the tests involve and how the results will be reported.
Eight of our pupils took part in the regional Cardiff round of the Welsh Books Council's Bookslam 2017 competition at Cardiff Central Library on April 4th. They were awarded first place and will now represent Cardiff in the national round in Brecon in June!
Congratulations to all who took part!
The girls can be seen in the photographs receiving their certificates from Mr. Catris in assembly.
Our nurture group invited their parents to an afternoon tea where they shared the work they have done this term.
They made biscuits and decorated a cake for all to share, and they also decorated it with candles as it was Dylan's mum's birthday!
